About
One of the greatest benefits of membership at Rolling Forest Pool is the opportunity to become part of the Rolling Forest Tidal Waves Swim Team. Founded in 1982, the Tidal Waves embark on their 43rd year as a member of the NVSL (Northern Virginia Swim League) - the largest summer swimming league in the entire United States! The Tidal Waves are a spirited, fun group of swimmers, aged 4-18 years old, and we invite every pool member family to be a part of our winning tradition.
The Tidal Waves are in Division 13 of the NVSL. Our swimmers participate in both competitive and developmental meets. The competitive meets "A meets" are held on Saturday mornings and the developmental meets "B meets" (Springfield/Burke League) are held on Monday evenings.
Volunteers
Parents are just as involved with the swim team as their swimmers. Running a swim meet requires a large volunteer staff. No experience is required! A few positions require attendance at NVSL clinics before the season begins. The clinics are FREE of charge and held periodically during the late spring. A schedule of these clinics will be listed on our website. All swim team families are expected to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours. Volunteer hours may be fulfilled by working at swim meets, social events, or other activities that support the swim team. Please see website for a complete list and detailed requirements of each volunteer position.
Ripples
Our developmental program for 4 to 6 year olds, the Ripples, is back for our 17th season. It not only provides a swimming foundation for future Tidal Waves, but it also has its own events at the beginning of Monday Night B Meets. The Ripples are coached by a Ripples leader and swimmer mentors allowing individual group attention to these younger swimmers. Requirements for signing up a young child are that they are able to put their face in the water comfortably and float on their stomach and/or back. Ripples spots are limited. We generally fill up very quickly, so it is important if you are interested in this program to make sure you send in your registrations quickly to have a spot in the program.
Team Kick off Meeting
This summer’s season begins with our swimmer and parent meeting on Monday, May 19th at 6pm at the pool. This will be your opportunity to meet the coaches, team volunteer coordinators, and fellow parents and swimmers.
Team suits will be available for purchase that evening.
Remember that the NVSL rules prohibit the use of swim caps other than with our team logo or no logo at all.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting!
